WEEK 1
You are filming two short videos this week...
Location: Inside, sitting at a work/office-type table. Try to avoid kitchens or living rooms, those will come later! The table is clear in front of you for this video. Video 1 Take a look at the sample to the right and try to get as close to the same spacing as possible. Have the table show along the bottom border of the camera frame and film from neck down only. Keep your head out of the shot as much as possible, except when you purposefully lay on the table. Your task is to recreate my movement and timing as close as you can. It should be approximately 45 seconds long. (*Yes, learning crap from a video! I bet you haven't done that in a while. Right hand moves first...) |

Video 2
Find a friend to help with this... You want to be sitting in the same spot as in Video 1, but with a computer* in front of you and other "work" things. The things can be more specific to your kind of work (tools if you work with tools, etc., whatever you would normally have around on your desk as you send emails). *If you can't set up in front of a computer, just fill the desk with work stuff. Have your friend film a panning shot around your mid-section from behind your right shoulder and ending in front of you. The ending position should be the same as the position you started Video 1 in (just with stuff on the table). See the sample to the right. You'll want to hold the camera just above table level, so you keep your head out of the shot and end up in the same orientation as Video 1. Try to pan as smoothly as possible. |
